3 Ways To Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the most prominent activists and speakers of our time. In today’s culture, this is more relevant than ever. Celebrate a man who paved the way not only for minorities in the 60’s, but also for those to come decades later. Here are three simple ways to honor and cherish Dr. King’s legacy this Monday.

Learn

One of the best ways you can pay homage to someone great is to learn about their life. Remembering what Dr. King did for American people is a celebration. There are a few ways to do this. If you’re more of an activities person, I recommend visiting the MLK memorial in Washington, D.C. or The King Center in Atlanta. Both locations are abundant with inspirational history. If you’re more of a homebody, there are plenty of books to read by and about Dr. King. One of the best: Strength To Love.

Give

Dr. King believed in helping others. Today, there are so many ways to do that, whether you’re volunteering at a local charity or simply making a donation to a cause you’re passionate about. Volunteer Match can give you a list of organizations perfect for you in a matter of seconds. So now you really have no excuse!

Share

If you’re unable to spend time and money giving back on MLK Day, simply share your knowledge and respect with others. A simple tweet or Instagram post will keep his legacy moving. Tell the children in your life about his story, and pay tribute by keeping him alive.
