Researchers Vasu Unnava, Amit Surendra Singh and H. Rao Unnava recently published a study about the effects of drinking coffee on employees working in teams. Turns out, your vice might be the one thing you need to get you through that team project. Now, this doesn’t mean you should run out the door with a Big Gulp-sized cup of Joe, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt to enjoy a nice mug of coffee in the morning. Here’s what the study found.

“…consuming a moderate amount of caffeinated coffee prior to indulging in a group activity enhances an individual’s task-relevant participation in the group activity”

“…subjective evaluations of the participation of other group members and oneself are also positively influenced”

“…the positive impact of consuming a moderate amount of caffeinated coffee on the evaluation of participation of other group members and oneself is moderated by a sense of an increased level of alertness”
